This hails from the Plough Daily Dig, a daily email I get from Plough Publishers. Go here to see/sign up for the email. It’s good stuff. And, no, I receive nothing for this except a dopamine hit, knowing that I’m leading you in a direction that pleases me…
Criminal or Musician?
In prison, you’re defined by the worst thing you’ve ever done. This constant reminder can keep people from seeing the best in themselves. One reason what we do is so effective is because on day one, we define you as a musician. Instead of that old definition, you’re now a violinist. Now, you’re a singer. Or maybe you’re just a music student. . . . So much of what we do is unspoken. Make the music and the music does its work.
Selah. Now get back to writing. Or to sanding that board. Or painting that pot. Get back to doing. It’s who you are.
